Potable Water Well
Our home and property is served by a private, potable water well. To the best of our knowledge this well was dug when our house was built in the 1960s. In fact, the house sits on top of the well. There is no public water line located in our street. All my neighbors have wells.
One issue that rises in these gas pipeline projects is the potential damage to the aquifer and water wells along the path. To that end, every water well private and public should be included in the reports and plans given to FERC.
We have carefully reviewed the plan provided by UGI to FERC. We saw that our private potable water well was not noted on the plans. I wrote a letter to FERC in April 2015 notifying them of not only our well, but that each property along Stetler Ave has a private well.
When we met with a representative from UGI, we informed him that we had a private potable water well. Each time a land agent came to home, we reminded them that we had a private water well. The agent said they would get the information from public documents related to our deed.
When UGI publicly posted their FERC submissions in January 2016, we saw that our potable water well was not on the plan. FERC sent us a copy of their Environmental study. In the study, it is stated that there are no private wells within 150 feet of the path of the pipeline. Just this week UGI marked on Stetler Ave where the pipeline will pass. It will be about 120 feet from our house.
Why is our well not recorded in the FERC environmental study?
